Guthrie Clinic announced the organization has been recognized as one of “America’s Greatest Workplaces in Health Care 2025” by Newsweek magazine and Plant-A Insights Group, a Manhattan-based research, data and analytics firm.
The prestigious honor highlights Guthrie’s commitment to fostering an exceptional workplace environment that empowers caregivers to thrive and deliver the highest quality of patient care, Guthrie officials said in a news release.
The recognition is based on an extensive evaluation of key factors — including leadership, integrity, compensation, work-life balance, and overall workplace culture, the release said.
“In the healthcare industry especially, employee engagement is crucial,” said Newsweek Editor-in-Chief Jennifer Cunningham. “These companies demonstrate exceptional commitment to creating a workplace that promotes both employee and client satisfaction at the highest level.”
The study, one of the largest of its kind, incorporated insights from more than 400,000 employee interviews and 4.9 million company reviews across the United States. Only health care organizations with more than 1,000 employees were considered.
“This award is a testament to the incredible people who make Guthrie a great place to work every day,” said Guthrie Clinic President and CEO Dr. Edmund Sabanegh.
“At Guthrie, we are deeply committed to creating an environment where our caregivers can thrive, because we know that when our team is supported, they can provide the highest level of care to our patients,” Sabanegh said. “This recognition reflects the dedication and passion of our entire Guthrie family.”
Employees shared their experiences on a range of topics, from working conditions to corporate culture.
Guthrie Clinic, based in Sayre, owns and operates six hospitals in New York and Pennsylvania, including Robert Packer Hospital on its main campus, Troy Community Hospital, Towanda Memorial Hospital, Corning Hospital, Cortland Medical Center, and Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton.
